There's a place for you here.
Children and Youth
Children of all ages and their parents are welcome at all worship services at St. Stephen's.
At 9:00 there are two services: one in the main church and one in Palmer Hall Chapel. In the main church, young people are encouraged to participate as ushers and acolytes, and to lead prayers. At this service, music is led by a variety of choirs, including youth choirs and youth handbell choirs, with organ or piano accompaniment. The service in Palmer Hall Chapel is an instructed liturgy and hymns are accompanied by piano. Children serve as acolytes, readers and ushers, and Palmer Hall Chapel has its own choir.
Summer services are held at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Child care is available for children through age 5 during the 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services on Sundays (and during the 10 a.m. service in the summer). Parents who decide to leave their children in the nursery may choose to pick them up after the conclusion of the service, and are also welcome to pick them up after the exchange of the peace and bring them into church to take communion.
Opportunities for children, youth and their families
In addition to worship and Christian education, most events at St. Stephen's are open to all ages, from intergenerational events for Advent and Lent to special services such as the annual Blessing of the Animals service in October; from the annual parish weekend at Shrine Mont to the Wednesday evening parish suppers.
If you wish to have your child baptized, please call or email Mary Sulerud. Additional information about Baptism is available here.
Nursery and child care
A nursery is provided during the 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services on Sunday mornings (10 a.m. service in the summer) on the lower level of the parish house. Child care is provided at other times as well; check with Martha-Lynn Corner about the availability of child care during specific church events.
Christian education for children

St. Stephen's offers a youth group for children in grades 4 and 5 (called Club 45) which meets once a month for a variety of activities, field trips and outreach projects. Read more on our Children's page. Youth groups for grades 6 and up are involved in a program we call Kairos. Read more about youth here.
