Front Door Ministries

Ushers
For many who come to St. Stephen’s, the first person they will meet is an usher. We are in the process of recruiting people for this ministry and providing training for new and returning ushers. Ushers are asked to serve on teams, usually for a month at a time. In addition to the monthly rotation, we are also recruiting ushers for special services such as Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve. If you feel called to participate in this ministry, please contact Janet Allen or Mary Frances Siersema.

Greeters
Greeters provide another vital front door ministry at St. Stephen’s. More information is coming soon, but if you wish to speak a staff member about this ministry, please contact Janet Allen.

Fellowship Gatherings

  • “Wonderful Wednesdays” are a time for the entire parish, as well as visitors and friends, to gather for fellowship and education. We begin with supper at 5:45 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. At 6:30 p.m., many of us stay for a program, while others disperse to small group meetings or music rehearsals. Delicious suppers are prepared by teams of parishioners, and the cost is reasonable: $5 for adults, $3 for children, with discounts for college students. Child care is available during the program/small group time. Everyone is welcome, and if you are considering making St. Stephen’s your parish home, this is a “wonderful” way to meet people. (For more information about Wonderful Wednesdays, visit the Parish Life section of our site.)

  • The Women of St. Stephen's Forum welcomes all women from St. Stephen's Church for coffee, refreshments and a program. The December and May meetings include lunch. First Tuesdays, September-May, 10:00 am, Fellowship Hall.

  • Circle 1 Meeting. All women of St. Stephen's are welcome to the Circle 1 meetings which offer an opportunity for fellowship, refreshments and a program, typically led by a member of the clergy. Second Tuesdays, September-May, 10:30 am, Small Fellowship Hall.

  • Men's Breakfast. All men of St. Stephen's are invited to this monthly gathering for breakfast prepared by alternating teams of parishioners. The program that follows brings in a number of interested speakers from St. Stephen's and the Richmond area on a variety of topics. First Thursdays, 7:30 am, Fellowship Hall.

  • The Young Adults at St. Stephen's meet periodically for fellowship meals in homes or in the Fellowship Hall. Contact the Rev. Abbott Bailey for more information, 288-2867, extension 307, or abailey@saintstephensrichmond.net.
