MayFairSpringDisplayMay Fair House is a gift shop run by the Women of St. Stephen's (our parish's chapter of the Episcopal Church Women). You may enter the shop, which is located in the parish house, from its separate entrance in the parking lot, or from the inside entrance, just down the hall from the Lounge, not far from the parish office.

The shop has a wonderful selection of unusual gifts at great prices, and is famous for its jams, jellies, pickles, relishes, frozen entrees and other delicious items-all prepared by volunteers in the May Fair House kitchen.

CanningBest of all, the proceeds from the sale of these items are used for outreach projects selected by a grants committee of the Women of St. Stephen's. A list of recent grant recipients is published in the July 2006 issue of The Spirit, our monthly parish newsletter.

One paid staff member is assisted by volunteers from the Women of St. Stephen's, which maximizes the amount of money that can be used for outreach. The shop is overseen by a board.

Why are these women laughing? (Photo, above right) Because canning for May Fair house is more than food preparation; it's a great opportunity to catch up with friends and make new ones!

MayFairTabletopThere are three ways to support the vital ministry of May Fair House:

  • Volunteer to work in the shop one shift per month (or more, if you can); call Harriett Schnell for information, 282-0885.
  • Volunteer to help prepare the foods and canned items sold in the shop-you do not need to be a gourmet cook! For information, call Sandy Suskind at 282-4496.
  • Shop!
