- Rector's
Forum. The Rector's Forum (RF) offers an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding
of our relationship to God and to each other through lectures and discussion on
a variety of topics. The Rector and Associate Rectors will be the usual presenters,
though we will welcome guest speakers from the Richmond area and beyond. To hear some past Rector's Forum presentations, visit the Speakers page. The Rector's Forum meets Sunday mornings from 10:10 a.m. until 11 a.m., in the large Fellowship Hall.
- Faith and Daily Living. This class focuses on practical questions with
faith-centered insights about them. We wrestle with how to create faith-centered
families, teach values to children and deepen adult faith in a busy season of
life. From time to time we bring in guest presenters from the community to address
issues facing families today. Faith and Daily Living meets Sunday mornings from 10:10 a.m. until 11 a.m., in Palmer Hall Chapel.
Guest speakers and topics for the Rector's Forum and Faith and Daily Living for the coming weeks include:
April 20 (RF)
The Rev. Martin Smith, author of A Season for the Spirit and The Word is Very Near You
Martin will also lead an Eastertide retreat April 19 at St. Stephen’s.
May 11 (RF)
Brother Curtis Almquist, SSJE, “God’s Conditional Love for You”
We are God’s children, “the apple of God’s eye,” in the words of the Psalmist, and yet God’s love is under some very specific conditions. (This is actually very good news.)
Br. Curtis, formerly a parish priest, is the Superior of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist, the oldest Anglican men’s religious order. He lives at SSJE’s monastery in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and is active as a conference speaker and spiritual director. He and other brothers from SSJE are frequent and welcome visitors to St. Stephen's.
May 11 (FDL)
Rusty McGuire, special prosecutor for state and federal cyber crimes, a published author on criminal law and a member of the General Assembly’s Cyber Crimes Advisory Committee and the Attorney General’s Youth Internet Safety Task Force. Rusty is passionate about protecting children from online sexual predators. He met with our youth groups in February and his presentation was so well-received, we have asked to return to speak to parents.
Other guest speakers are coming to St. Stephen's as well.
